Game report

Sweden started quickly. The scoring was started at 6:42 of the first period by Gustav Possler, who perfectly one-timed a pass from Sebastian Collberg. Then just 95 seconds later, Sweden took a 2-0 lead off a spin-around goal by Mattias Kalin, who received the puck from Filip Sandberg´s stick.

The third goal came in the 15th minute, with Sweden captain Filip Forsberg, whose one-timer was simply unstoppable and goalie Niklas Schlegel saw the puck for the first time when it was already in the net.

Just 86 seconds into the second period it was 4-0 after Gustav Possler jammed the puck in from close range, assisted by Alexander Wennberg.

With 5:29 to go in the second period, Team Switzerland cut it to a three-goal shortage, as Fabrice Herzog´s lucky shot found the net. It was Switzerland´s ninth shot of the game, and Swedish goalkeeper Oscar Dansk looked rusty.

The Swedes had no problem out-playing their oponents in the minutes to come, which led into the fifth goal in Schlegel´s net on Filip Sandberg´s wrist shot.

Right after that, Sebastian Collberg made it 6-1 for Team Sweden. Great passing from Alexander Wennberg was followed by Colberg´s shot under the crossbar, who could take his time as there was no Swiss player in the area.

Team Switzerland got one back with less than 10 minutes to go in the third period. Marco Müller took advantage one of the few mistakes made by the Swedish defence after receiving a back pass from defenceman Xano Büsser.

With 20 seconds left in regulation time, Gutav Possler completed the scoring as well as his hat trick, making it 7-2 for Team Sweden.

“We played well tonight. We also skated well so we managed to win. Our ambition here is to get gold medal,“ said hat-trick scorer Gustav Possler.

The Swiss goalie gave his opinion on the match. “It was a tough game. The Swedish players were skating well and shooting a lot. We were no match for them in tonight´s game.“

Reactions

Rikard Gronborg (Head Coach of Team Sweden):
I think we played a very solid game with good puck moving and our skating was excellent. We did all the foundation including back-checking and all the dirty work. We knew that we would have a puck under the control in this game and all went as expected. Posler is a goal scorer and he even had a penalty shot, so he is really dangerous. It was really nice to see him get rewarded for his hard work.

Alfred Bohren (Head Coach of Team Switzerland):
Our opponent put us under pressure for the whole game and did not allow us any chances. They had the puck and controlled the game. We did not take our opportunities when they came across.
