History

IIHF U18 World Championship is played since 1999 as a successor to European Junior Ice Hockey Championship. Czech Republic hosts the tournament for the second time, first event took place in 2005 at Pilsen and Ceske Budejovice.

In recent years, future top stars of ice hockey world have taken part in this championship, including players like Alexandr Ovechkin, Ilya Kovalchuk, Steven Stamkos or Patrik Elias, Tomas Vokoun, Jiri Hudler to name a few from Czech team.

13.04.2012 - Czech Republic vs. Denmark game on Friday, April 13, will be preceded by a minute of silence in a memory of Mr. Miroslav Subrta, long-serving ice hockey official and a honorary IIHF president.
